The IVPower software is designed to complement power system protection and control systems by providing a detailed view on power system disturbances. IVPower uses disturbance recordings and event logs as the main sources of data. Analogue signals of the disturbance recordings are used to perform automatic fault detection and analysis at power system level.
Status changes of process signals in the event logs complement the binary signals of the disturbance recordings – altogether they allow analysis of the behaviour of protection relays and circuit breakers. Making use of all available transients records, IVPower provides optimum reactance-based fault location using measurements from one, two or more terminals of power lines or cables.
Most high current short circuits are located with an accuracy better than three tower spans in high voltage levels. Within a few minutes after a fault, IVPower provides the time sensitive and crucial information needed for remedial actions to operators and experts by email or text message.
By carefully considering the quality level of the calculations, the application makes sure that only reliable and accurate information is provided and avoids misleading repair teams in stressful situations. If fault analysis improves due to additional data coming in, the users receive an update.
NetCeler will be at the CIGRE exhibition on Booth n° 308 – Level 3.
