The stainless steel canned motor units are designed to pump high pressure water whilst operating with exceptionally low noise and vibration levels, essential for quiet operation. Newly-designed bearings are an upgrade on earlier designs.
The first of the four new units is currently being installed on HMS Victorious. The remaining three units will serve as back-up units for those currently in operation with the Royal Navy.
