The new cameras utilise CMOS technology and offer outstanding price/performance, backed by Sony’s reputation for image quality and reliability. The EVI-HD3V offers image resolution from VGA to 720/60p for HD quality over optimized bandwith, while the EVI-HD7V offers resolution from VGA right up to 1080/60p with full HD support for high performance conferencing. There is a DVI-I video I/F for both digital and analogue signals to support migration to HD. In addition, Y/Cb/Cr and RGB outputs can be selected.
The pan/tilt mechanism of the EVI-HD7V/HD3V is extremely quiet and moves smoothly and quickly, using the same direct drive motor system as employed on Sony’s EVI-HD1 camera. There is also a fast zoom capability with excellent autofocus. Camera settings and pan, tilt and zoom functions can be selected remotely via the reliable VISCA (RS-232C) interface using an optional remote control. A high quality joystick provides smooth control of a variety of parameters including auto exposure and focus. The remote control unit features 16 presets and can be used to control up to 7 cameras.
These versatile cameras are suitable for use in a host of applications. For videoconferencing, they are compatible with a wide range of codecs, including Sony, Polycom, LifeSize, Tandberg and Vaddio. They can therefore be used as the primary camera of choice in either a new installation or as a second/third room camera or even a replacement camera in an existing installation. They can also be used in a wide range of broadcast/AV applications, including training, distance learning and telemedicine.
