QuickSilver adds winding to its repertoire of features. QuickSilver’s unique ability to handle large inertial loads allows us to direct drive large product reels. The advanced PVIA™ servo control algorithm provides impressive stability from full to empty reels. Precise torque control of the brushless servo motor and programmable controller’s electronic slip clutch feature (“drag” mode) allows the servo motor to keep constant web tension as wind/unwind reels payout and take up product.

Application Note “AN062 Wind/Unwind” describes several methods to wind/unwind product including sensorless and dancer arm as pictured.

Dancer arms with rotation sensors to provide bi-directional robust control. The two reels operate independent of each other automatically keeping constant tension on their part of the line.
