Getting started is easy with the AKD2G’s plug-and-play compatibility to Kollmorgen motors and Workbench interface, an interface already applauded for customer experience and usability. Physical connections to the drive have been made simple. The hybrid connector is optimised for single cable motors and the I/O cage-clamp terminal enables connections to be made in a snap. The AKD2G eliminates the need for additional hardware by optically isolating the I/O to reduce noise.
The AKD2G is fast. It introduces a multicore Compute Engine – Servo on a Chip – that is far more powerful than other servo drives. This new design accommodates changing load conditions immediately with a rapid current loop update rate of 1.28µs. Velocity and position loops updates are also market leading at 62.5µs and 250µs.
With its modular design, the AKD2G is flexible and able to meet the needs of nearly any application with a solution that feels custom made by allowing the user to specify features that fit the machine design.
Multiple bus choices are available for system optimisation, including EtherCAT & FSoE, and CANopen. Safety can be incorporated into the drive as well with the optional Safe Motion Monitor (SMM). The flexibility offered in the AKD2G enables a user to easily select the drive that is right for their machine.
