An electronic system records this capacity difference and calculates the inclination angle from this. A measurement covering 360° can be made with high precision of <0.3° using this method. The angle resolution of the inclination sensors is 0.01°, and angle changes can be recorded at speeds of up to 5°/s.
The inclination sensors fulfil high protection classes, are insensitive to vibration and shocks, and can be used within a wide temperature range of -40 to 80°C. Depending on requirements, they are available in different versions: with pressure-resistant encapsulation for applications in potentially explosive areas, with the option of recording the inclination in two directions simultaneously, or in a redundant version for safety-related applications.
Typical usage areas for inclination sensors are cranes, work platforms, wind power systems or mobile machinery. The devices can also be used in offshore systems for transporting oil and gas. A good price/performance ratio also makes the sensor of interest for price-sensitive applications.
