AiUAC: Powering industrial automation

ASRock has launched the AiUAC (ASRock Industrial Universal Automation Control) solution, a scalable, IEC 61499 compliant control engine designed to accelerate the transition to open, software-defined industrial automation.

Built on the Universal Automation Organisation’s (UAO) IEC 61499 standard, AiUAC is said to enable vendor-independent, event-driven control across heterogeneous edge nodes.

Optimised for deployment on Industrial Robust Edge AIoT Platforms, AiUAC is claimed to deliver distributed logic execution, system modularity, protocol-level interoperability, and flexible robot integration that modern factories and infrastructure providers demand.

With seamless integration with EcoStruxure Automation Expert (EAE), AiUAC also streamlines the full IEC 61499 development lifecycle, from engineering design to runtime execution, driving faster deployment of automation tasks across mission-critical environments.

Supporting real-time, decentralised execution and aligned with the Open Process Automation Standard (O-PAS), AiUAC empowers industries such as manufacturing, oil & gas, and smart logistics to deploy open, scalable, and resilient automation.

The AiUAC solution introduces a robust suite of capabilities that enable open, flexible, future-ready control across industrial applications:

Built on IEC 61499 Standard

Powered by UAO’s IEC 61499 standard, AiUAC delivers vendor-independent, event-driven control with seamless interoperability, high reusability, and open architecture across diverse edge environments.

Seamless Workflow with EAE

Provides seamless compatibility with EAE, supporting the design and deployment of distributed control logic within an open, modular engineering environment.

Embedded System Telemetry

Provides real-time visibility into hardware conditions including CPU and motherboard temperatures, GPIO states, and voltage levels, supporting diagnostics, condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance at the edge.

Interoperable Communication

Supports key industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA (with subscriptions, events, and alarms & conditions), MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, and Ethernet/IP, ensuring integration across diverse OT and IT ecosystems.

Robotic Control with HA support

Enables flexible robot integration for seamless adaptation across smart manufacturing systems. With built-in high-availability (HA) capabilities, AiUAC ensures reliable and scalable deployment in distributed, mission-critical control environments.

Forward Compatibility with Open Process Automation

Designed for long-term adaptability, with planned support for O-PAS and OCF-based architectures, empowering industrial organisations to adopt open, standards-based automation frameworks.
