Used for monitoring critical bolting applications, either during the installation of new plant or while carrying out routine maintenance, the Echometer+ works by measuring the time of flight of a sound wave as it travels through a bolt. When the wave hits the end of the bolt it reflects back into the transducer.
This enables a measurement to be taken. A new automatic correlation feature on the Echometer+ ensures accurate and repeatable transducer placement. The Echometer+ can be set to measure elongation, load, stress and strain.
As well as being able to measure much longer bolts (25.40m versus 2.44m), Echometer+ offers much more control in terms of how a waveform is transmitted with nine different pulse width options to select from.
This is invaluable when an operator is finding it difficult to get a reading, perhaps when there are unusual bolt materials involved.
The new device is larger in size than the original handheld Echometer in order to incorporate additional hardware, including a sunlight readable colour screen and built-in rechargeable batteries.
It features a 4GB internal SD card and a 64GB external SD card memory slot. Recorded data can be transferred to a Windows PC or Apple computer via a USB 1.1 port. Files can also be exchanged with the handheld Echometer.
Said Dave Metzger, Boltight’s Business Development Manager: “The new Echometer+ is an excellent addition to our range of ultrasonic measurement devices. It complements the smaller handheld Echometer by offering more power, performance and functionality. It would be ideal for use inside a factory or laboratory environment, rather than working outdoors, where the extra features would be more beneficial than overall portability.”
Echometer+ works with all bolt tightening systems and is available ex-stock for immediate delivery. It is supplied in a strong metal case with full operating instructions and a two-year warranty. Transducers and temperature sensors are interchangeable with the original Echometer. Training on how to use ultrasonic measurement competently is available on-site or at Boltight’s UK training facilities.
