IMAGO Technologies has introduced Vision Box AGE-X6, a modular, expandable industrial PC. The compact, fanless unit is based on the latest 14th-generation Intel Core embedded processors and its four USB4 interfaces with up to 40 Gbit/s per channel enables the flexible connection of external GPUs, high-speed storage, or high-performance cameras.
The AGE-X6 is said to address a key challenge faced by many machine builders and integrators: vision systems often reach their limits due to increasing process speeds, growing quality requirements, or recent technologies such as deep learning. Until now, this often required costly and risky hardware replacements. With the new IMAGO platform, computing power can now be scaled without altering the base system, cabling, or existing certifications.
“The decisive advantage is that users can continue to operate their existing system unchanged,” explained Christoph Siemon, Vice President Sales and R&D at IMAGO Technologies. “If needed, only the GPU or another external component is added. This way, software, certifications, and control cabinet layouts remain intact, while performance scales with requirements.”
Unified Platform for Serial Machine Builders
Its modular concept is claimed to make the AGE-X6 particularly attractive for machine builders. Different machine types can run on a shared hardware base, reducing development and maintenance costs. At the same time, users benefit from high flexibility across their product portfolio, as interfaces and computing power can be scaled via USB4 as needed.
Wide Range of Applications
The Vision Box AGE-X6 can be used in numerous industries from packaging and logistics to electronics manufacturing and pharmaceutical/medical technology.
- In logistics, it enables powerful real-time multi-code recognition, even with varying code positions.
- In electronics production, it supports the ultra-precise detection of the smallest defects at maximum speed.
- In regulated industries such as pharma, it reduces re-certification efforts since hardware modifications to the base system are unnecessary.
Siemon added: “In almost every industry, the requirements for vision systems are increasing. With the AGE-X6, we offer our customers the ability to adapt their equipment economically and with future-proof scalability.”
