Emerson has launched a version of its DeltaV automation platform tailored for AI data centres, as industrial automation suppliers seek to capitalise on surging investment in the computing infrastructure underpinning artificial intelligence.
The new DeltaV Automation Platform for Data Centers brings together the monitoring and control of electrical, mechanical and cooling systems within a single automation architecture.
Emerson said the platform is designed to help operators accelerate construction, improve reliability and manage the increasingly complex infrastructure required to support AI workloads.
The launch reflects the growing convergence between industrial automation and data centre operations. As hyperscale facilities grow in size and power consumption, operators are increasingly adopting industrial control technologies to manage critical infrastructure, including power distribution, thermal management and cooling systems.
Emerson said the platform replaces separate control systems with a unified layer that provides real-time monitoring and coordinated control across facility infrastructure. The company claims this can reduce engineering effort during construction while enabling data centres to respond more effectively to fluctuating power and cooling demands once operational.
The platform combines Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) with DeltaV programmable logic controllers (PLCs), allowing equipment-level control to be integrated with facility-wide automation. Embedded artificial intelligence capabilities are intended to simplify engineering workflows, optimise operations and support increasingly autonomous facilities over time.
Nathan Pettus, President of Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions business, said the growing scale and complexity of AI data centres required a more integrated approach to automation.
“Data centre performance is no longer defined by individual components alone, but by how effectively critical systems work together,” he said. “The DeltaV Automation Platform for Data Centers gives operators the unified visibility and coordinated control they need to commission projects predictably, operate reliably at scale and meet aggressive timelines.”
Emerson said the platform also supports standardised system designs and repeatable engineering approaches intended to shorten project schedules and reduce execution risk as demand for new AI infrastructure continues to grow.
