German manufacturer NORD DRIVESYSTEMS plans to demonstrate how its technologies can address a wide range of motion control tasks at this year’s SPS – Smart Production Solutions exhibition in Nuremberg.
The company will use the November show to demonstrate its multi-variable drive electronics; its NXD tupH® surface protection; and its expanding suite of digital services designed to support smart factory operations.
The manufacturer will highlight its approach to decentralised and centralised control architectures, showing how its portfolio of frequency inverters – the NORDAC PRO, NORDAC ON, NORDAC FLEX, and NORDAC LINK – can be integrated flexibly across industrial systems. These units can be installed either in control cabinets or directly on or near motors, and support multiple Ethernet protocols, including via multi-protocol interfaces.
“With these product families, we can support virtually any system architecture in automated production,” said Jörg Niermann, Head of Marketing at NORD DRIVESYSTEMS. “Our drive electronics also offer embedded intelligence through features such as the POSICON positioning mode and an on-board PLC, enabling localised control that reduces reliance on higher-level systems.”
The company will also present safety functions built into its drive electronics, including support for local fail-safe sensors and actuators such as emergency stops and safety light grids.
NORD will also showcase its expanding range of digital services, aimed at improving drive performance throughout a system’s lifecycle. The NORD ECO service analyses load data to identify energy-saving opportunities and reduce total cost of ownership. The NORD DRIVE MONITOR provides real-time condition monitoring for predictive maintenance.
In addition, NORD will debut simulation models for virtual commissioning, allowing engineers to integrate and test digital twins of drive systems during the design phase. The approach shortens the time from configuration to commissioning, cutting project durations from several months to just weeks.
