Exwayz, a French developer of 3D positioning and navigation software, has raised €1m in a funding round led by CentraleSupélec Venture, with part of the total coming from an i-Lab Innovation Competition grant under the France 2030 programme.
The early-stage company, founded in 2021, builds Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping (SLAM) technology designed to provide centimetre-level accuracy for LiDAR-equipped autonomous systems operating in complex industrial and urban environments. Exwayz said the funding would support additional hires in algorithms, 3D vision, and data science, as well as help industrialise and harden its software for large-scale deployment.
The raise coincides with new strategic partnerships with Embotech, a Swiss scale-up developing autonomous trucks for logistics hubs, and Cyvl.ai, a Boston company that produces geospatial data for road infrastructure. Exwayz also announced the appointment of Yves Bonnefont, the former Stellantis executive who led the group’s software and digital transformation efforts, as a non-executive advisor.
Hassan Bouchiba, cofounder and Chief Executive, said the company aimed to make high-precision 3D localisation “accessible to every manufacturer of autonomous systems”, adding that reliable positioning remained a critical barrier for robots operating in ports, warehouses, factories, and dense cities.
Embotech plans to deploy 30 autonomous trucks using Exwayz software at the Port of Rotterdam in 2026, where the systems will need to operate with limited GNSS reliability. In the US, Cyvl.ai is using Exwayz SLAM to generate detailed 3D road maps for more than 200 municipalities, covering tens of thousands of kilometres each year.
CentraleSupélec Venture, which focuses on early-stage deeptech investments, said Exwayz had already secured more than 20 customers worldwide. The startup is part of 21st by CentraleSupélec, the deeptech accelerator at Station F.
Bonnefont said Exwayz represented “the new generation of French deeptechs” pushing into global autonomous systems markets, and that he was “proud to support this exceptional team” as it scales.
