Moxa Europe to unveil next-generation industrial cybersecurity solutions at SPS 2025

Moxa Europe, a specialist in industrial communications and networking, will unveil its latest technologies for secure and future-proof operational technology (OT) environments at SPS 2025, the company said.

The Taiwan-headquartered firm plans to present a wide range of industrial switches, next-generation firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and serial-to-Ethernet gateways, all designed in line with the IEC 62443-4-2 cybersecurity standard. These products are aimed at helping manufacturers meet the growing regulatory demands of the EU’s NIS-2 Directive and the forthcoming Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

Moxa’s technology portfolio supports a variety of industrial protocols, including PROFINET, MRP, EtherCAT, and OPC UA FX, enabling interoperability and scalability across complex production environments. Its expanded serial-to-Ethernet gateway range is designed to integrate legacy “brownfield” systems into modern OT networks, while new gateways and junction boxes for EtherCAT address rising demand for real-time performance.

The company will highlight its NAT-102/108 series, designed to resolve IP conflicts in production networks and facilitate secure machine onboarding. The devices, which support role-based access control, incorporate hardened features such as secure boot, signed firmware updates, and MAC/IP/port filtering, in line with IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) and CRA Annex I requirements.

Also on display will be Moxa’s EDF-G1002-BP industrial intrusion prevention system (IPS), which combines Deep Packet Inspection and virtual patching for real-time network protection. Capable of handling up to 500 Mbps and 45,000 packets per second, the device can operate in either detection or prevention mode. It functions in transparent mode, allowing integration into existing network architectures without IP address changes, and is suitable for use in sectors such as rail, traffic control, and hazardous environments.

Moxa said its approach to cybersecurity extends beyond product design. Its Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL), aligned with IEC 62443-4-1, incorporates threat modelling, secure coding, and ongoing testing. The firm’s Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) manages vulnerability reporting and coordinates with global standards bodies as an official CVE Numbering Authority. Moxa also provides security advisories, Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs), and documentation to support compliance with CRA and NIS-2 requirements.
