With the gender pay gap never being far from the news this year, the trust is particularly interested in seeing applications from projects aiming to support women with employability skills for STEM industries. A project that has previously received funding was a series of creative digital and coding skills workshops for girls aged 11-18. This is a fantastic opportunity for organisations and projects with a similar focus to benefit from a funding boost.
Laura Chow, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “This year saw over 10,000 organisations in the UK publish a report into the gender pay gap and findings from our own report highlighted that we could do more to encourage women into highly specialised STEM fields, where women are traditionally under represented. Grass roots community projects play a huge role in inspiring the next generation of creative coding geniuses and female tech leaders so I’d urge as many groups as possible to get an application in.”
