Infrared sensors feature enhanced Signal Noise Ratio

Samples of the latest variant of its pyroelectric product ranges are available from Pyreos. The methane (CH4) product range has extremely high sensitivity to methane and related hydrocarbons and offers a fast, stable response over a wide operating frequency range.

The new TO-39 infrared sensors range has a four times improved signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio because the characteristics of the patented thin-film PZT have been optimised for methane and hydrocarbon-specific wavelengths. It also features increased responsivity of 270,000V/W within the filter band.

Sensor elements are built into a low noise circuit that has an internal CMOS op amp, with a 10GΩ feedback resistor outputting a voltage signal centred around half the supply rail.

“Our latest high sensitivity, two channel methane (CH4) range combines all the industry-leading features of our existing products, including fast response, instant switch on, low power and thermal stability,” said Andrew Wallace, CEO at Pyreos. “This really brings a fast, reliable solution to customers designing products for hydrocarbon gas detection.”

The methane (CH4) variant in TO-39 analogue format is sampling now, and orders are being taken for digital SMD samples in a dual package.
