Advantech has secured a place on Germany’s 450connect whitelist for its ICR-2437-DE industrial router, marking a notable step in the company’s effort to expand its presence in mission-critical communications across Europe.
The whitelisting confirms that the device meets 450connect’s technical and security requirements for use on the country’s 450 MHz network, which underpins communications for energy utilities, emergency services, water management, and other essential sectors. The move positions Advantech more firmly alongside established suppliers of secure, long-range connectivity for critical infrastructure.
The ICR-2437-DE router is tailored for demanding industrial environments, featuring two Ethernet ports, RS232 and RS485 serial interfaces, digital I/O, and dual SIM slots for operational redundancy. The unit supports LTE FDD bands B3, B7, B20, and B72, ensuring compatibility with Germany’s 450 MHz systems. When combined with Advantech’s User Apps and its WebAccess/DMP zero-provisioning monitoring platform, the router forms part of a wider ecosystem aimed at simplifying deployment for operators in energy, transport, and water treatment.
Advantech said the device’s development benefited from work with its long-term German partner Lucom, which helped the company meet region-specific requirements. Customers will also have access to local first- and second-line technical support.
The company noted that further 450 MHz-capable devices are due to follow, expanding the number of certified options it offers to critical-infrastructure operators.
450connect, based in Cologne, operates Germany’s nationwide 450 MHz network and holds exclusive rights to the frequency band until 2040. More than 70 energy suppliers back the venture, including Alliander, E.ON, a consortium of regional utilities, and the Versorger-Allianz 450, whose members include municipal energy and water suppliers alongside EnBW subsidiary Netze BW.
