Rockwell Automation launches SecureOT suite to shield industrial operations from cyber threats

Rockwell Automation, the Milwaukee-based industrial automation giant, has unveiled a new cybersecurity offering aimed at protecting manufacturing and critical infrastructure operations from an increasing wave of cyber threats.

The SecureOT solution suite combines a purpose-built platform with professional and managed security services to deliver end-to-end protection for operations technology (OT) systems. The move comes as industrial networks become more connected and legacy systems—often designed without security in mind—face heightened vulnerability to attacks.

Matthew Fordenwalt, Senior Vice President of Lifecycle Services at Rockwell, described SecureOT as “more than a brand” and a “strategic shift” in industrial cybersecurity. He said the suite leverages both OT-specific technology and expertise to help organisations maintain safe operations in the face of rapidly evolving threats.

The platform provides real-time visibility into industrial assets, risk prioritisation and vulnerability management across diverse vendor ecosystems. Professional services offer advisory, assessment and implementation support, while managed security services provide continuous monitoring and incident response through Rockwell’s dedicated OT Security and Network Operations Centres. SecureOT adheres to globally recognised frameworks including NIST CSF, NIS2 and IEC 62443, and is designed to work across different vendor technologies.

Analysts welcomed the launch. Hollie Hennessy, OT/IoT cybersecurity lead at Omdia, said SecureOT’s layered approach, which combines asset visibility, vulnerability management and managed detection, “is a significant step forward for industrial cybersecurity maturity.”

Rockwell cited early examples of the solution’s impact. One oil & gas producer achieved full OT asset visibility and remediated critical risks across remote operations in six months, while a beverage manufacturer transitioned its industrial network to a fully managed infrastructure across 150 sites globally. An energy company reportedly doubled its NIST CSF maturity scores, and a power utility improved remote substation visibility while achieving NERC CIP compliance.

Rockwell Automation, listed on the NYSE as ROK, employs around 27,000 staff and operates in more than 100 countries. The company has positioned SecureOT as part of its broader mission to advance industrial automation and digital transformation.
