Darveen launches rugged Android tablets as industrial mobility demand intensifies

Darveen, the Taiwanese rugged-device maker, has unveiled two Android tablets aimed at field technicians and mobile staff, as competition intensifies in the industrial computing sector.

The new RTC-M102, a 10.1-inch model, and the smaller 8-inch RTC-M82 are positioned as lightweight devices for workers who require dependable connectivity and durability in demanding environments such as construction, logistics, and energy inspection.

Both tablets run on MediaTek’s MT8781 octa-core processor and Android 16, paired with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. Darveen said the chipset offers the balance of power efficiency and responsiveness needed for high-mobility work, where users frequently switch between mapping tools, workflow software, and data-capture apps.

The devices feature high-brightness touchscreens rated at up to 700 nits, designed to remain legible in strong sunlight — a common requirement for outdoor operations teams. Capacitive multi-touch input aims to provide smoother navigation for staff wearing light protective gloves.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RJ45 Ethernet, and USB ports. The tablets can also be fitted with optional 1D or 2D barcode scanners, NFC, or RFID modules, reflecting a growing demand for seamless data capture in asset tracking and warehouse environments.

Darveen emphasised the rugged credentials of the lineup, stating that both models are IP67 rated and tested to the MIL-STD-810H standard for drops, shocks, and extreme temperatures. Each unit incorporates a 10,000 mAh battery, which the company claims will support a full day’s field work.

Founded in 2007, Darveen produces industrial panel PCs, embedded computers, displays, and vehicle-mounted systems. Its products are used in smart ports, warehousing, logistics, and heavy-duty vehicle applications. The company said it is expanding further into edge computing and smart-manufacturing markets as Industry 4.0 adoption accelerates.
